Frequently asked questions

Is there value in doing this work with others who are also awakening?
Yes - and in my experience, profoundly so. There’s something that happens when people who are genuinely navigating similar terrain come together. Not just sharing stories, but doing the actual work side by side. Witnessing someone else move through something you’ve been carrying. Being witnessed in return. My group masterclasses, retreats, and ceremonial gatherings are built around this. The healing that happens in community accelerates in ways one-to-one work simply can’t replicate. You’re not just learning from me - you’re learning from everyone in the room. And the recognition that comes from being truly witnessed by others who know this territory from the inside is its own kind of medicine.
Does this work require plant medicine or psychedelics?
Not at all. Plant medicine is always optional in this work. Many people navigating spiritual awakening have never used psychedelics and have no interest in them. The Emotional Liberation method is complete in itself, working at the level of the nervous system, the body, and the emotions regardless. For those who do work with plant medicine as part of their spiritual path, this method provides the preparation and integration container that determines whether those experiences lead somewhere real.
I’ve had a spiritual awakening but I feel worse, not better. Is that normal?
Yes, and more common than you might think. Awakening doesn’t erase the emotional material that was already there. In many cases it makes it more visible. The Anxiety, the Grief, the Shame, the old Anger, it can all surface more intensely once the defenses start to loosen. This isn’t the awakening going wrong. It’s the invitation to go deeper. The Emotional Liberation method is specifically designed to work with exactly this - helping you meet what’s surfacing, process it, and integrate it into a life that actually reflects what you’ve seen. Not by flooding you, but by working carefully within your window of tolerance, so the process is as efficient and effective as it is sustainable. If you’re wondering whether working with me is a good fit, the best next step is a complimentary Discovery Session → . You’ll complete a client intake form first, then we’ll meet on Zoom to explore what’s possible.
How is this different from talk therapy?
Emotional Liberation® works at a different level than traditional therapy - and for many people, it reaches places talk therapy never could. It works at the level where patterns actually shift. It engages the nervous system and the body’s learned emotional responses, helping unwind reactive cycles that often persist even when you understand them intellectually. The result is change you can feel and live, especially under stress and in relationships. I’m a credentialed Emotional Liberation practitioner, plant medicine facilitator, and Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist - not a licensed psychotherapist. What I offer sits at the frontier of emotional healing - and for many people, it reaches places other modalities never could.

Ready to live what you’ve glimpsed?

The awakening opened the door. This work helps you walk through it, and stay there.

The Dark Side Isn’t the Moon

By Becca Williams  |  April 9, 2026  |  Updated May 16, 2026

We can send humans around the dark side of the moon, but circling our own emotions? Still a stretch. As we celebrate another leap outward, the real question lingers: what would happen if we put that same energy into exploring ourselves?

By Becca Williams  |  April 2, 2026  |  Updated May 13, 2026

Your emotions aren’t random. They’re signals pointing you back to your deeper self. Drawing on Jung’s insight, this piece reframes midlife struggles not as crises, but as spiritual awakenings. When we stop avoiding what we feel and begin processing it, healing, clarity, and real transformation become possible.

Beyond the Guru: An Authentic Spiritual Awakening

By Becca Williams  |  March 26, 2026  |  Updated May 15, 2026

We retired the word "guru" after a parade of scandals exposed beloved spiritual teachers as manipulators and predators. Now, the shaman is having its cultural moment - and the warning signs are beginning to look unsettlingly familiar. Are we romanticizing another archetype of spiritual authority, or have we finally learned our lesson?

Silence of the Spiritual Stars

By Becca Williams  |  February 26, 2026  |  Updated May 19, 2026

The polished image of "higher consciousness" is crumbling, and the loudest sound coming from the biggest names in spirituality is silence. What happens when charisma gets mistaken for integrity?

Portugal Bans the Burka: Why Erasing Women Isn’t Culture

By Becca Williams  |  October 23, 2025  |  Updated June 2, 2026

Portugal’s proposed ban on face coverings has stirred deep emotion. I see this moment as a reckoning with shame and visibility. Being told to hide your face isn’t culture – it’s erasure. My work is about freeing ourselves from the stories that silence us, and this conversation reminds me that being seen, in all our humanity, is where healing begins.

Holding “Healers” to the Standard They Claim

By Becca Williams  |  September 23, 2025  |  Updated June 2, 2026

Trust is the foundation of healing work, and it falters when integrity isn’t lived. I’ve witnessed “Sage Daddy Syndrome” – where lofty words mask broken agreements and avoidance of responsibility. In this reflection, I share why discernment is essential when choosing guides, how to protect yourself with clear questions and boundaries, and how together we can raise the standard for accountability in the medicine space.

2 Weeks with the Boom Tribe

By Becca Williams  |  July 31, 2025  |  Updated May 23, 2026

Two weeks. Scorching temps. Forty thousand people vibrating to trance in the Portuguese sun. Boom Festival felt like stepping into another world where glitter is clothing, hugs are sacred, and your only job is to immerse yourself in the experience. I wasn’t on a quest for transformation like so many others attending – but I did swim nude, sleep soundly through nonstop psytrance beats, and practice peeing gracefully (sort of) in a compost toilet.

Gurdjieff: Your Misery Will Save You

By Becca Williams  |  June 4, 2025  |  Updated June 5, 2026

George I. Gurdjieff was what you’d call a modern day mystic – an unconventional spiritual teacher who was committed to “waking up” as many people as possible. His mission was to guide people living in the U.S. and Europe to higher consciousness, believing that humans exist in a state of “waking sleep” – essentially held captive by the unruly emotions that run them.

The Problem with Positive Thinking

By Becca Williams  |  May 22, 2025  |  Updated June 10, 2026

Don't worry. Be happy! Whether it's a secular or spiritual environment, so much of what we're taught about how to manage our thoughts boils down to one message: "Don't think those bad thoughts! Think only good thoughts!”  And it’s a prescription for mental disaster.

Old Lady Hands [Body UNshaming: 69-ish]

By Becca Williams  |  January 28, 2025  |  Updated June 17, 2026

This body shaming thing is so insidious. Now, with my awareness in full gear, I see just how deep the self-shaming goes. The latest example was just last week when my executive assistant, Carsey, sent me a picture of myself and said, "Wow! I love this picture! Can we use it?” My response was immediate and visceral: "Old lady hand!" ...shouting over our back-and-forth text messaging.

Emotional Healing With Psychedelics: A Soulful Path

By Becca Williams  |  August 30, 2024  |  Updated June 27, 2026

You may or may not have heard that the psychedelic community's abuzz over what amounts to a HUGE defeat in moving psychedelics to a place of legal acceptance in the United States. And, of course, it's considered a defeat for the rest of the Westernized world – given the U.S.’s outsized influence on such matters.
