Frequently Asked Questions2026-05-17T21:58:07+00:00

Your Questions, Answered

If you are curious about working with Becca but not quite sure where to start, you are in the right place. Below you will find honest answers to the questions she hears most often, across every part of her work.

If something is not covered here, the Get in Touch page is always open. No question is too small.

Who is Becca Williams and what does she do?2026-05-17T20:58:07+00:00

I am an emotional healing practitioner working at the intersection of breathwork, somatic movement, plant medicine, and neuroscience-informed inner exploration. I help people move through anxiety, trauma, emotional numbness, and deeply held patterns that keep them feeling stuck. My work goes directly to the nervous system and the body rather than relying solely on talking about the past.

What makes Becca’s approach different from therapy?2026-05-17T20:38:02+00:00

My work is not therapy and does not replace clinical mental health care. What it offers is a body-centred, experiential path to emotional freedom. Many people find it reaches places that talk therapy has not been able to access. Each session or course combines breathwork, conscious exploration, and practical integration tools shaped around the individual.

Do I need any prior experience to work with Becca?2026-05-17T20:53:30+00:00

No experience is needed at all. Many of my clients come with no background in breathwork, plant medicine, or somatic practice. The free monthly Elevation Ceremony is a natural first step. It gives you a genuine feel for how I work before you commit to anything further.

Is this work suitable if I have a mental health diagnosis?2026-05-17T21:00:34+00:00

My work is not a substitute for clinical psychiatric or psychological care. If you carry an active mental health diagnosis, I encourage a conversation with your existing care team before starting any intensive breathwork or somatic practice. Please reach out via the contact page before booking. I am always happy to have an open, honest conversation about whether this work is right for you at this point in time.

How quickly do people notice a difference?2026-05-10T00:30:40+00:00

The timeline varies. Some people feel a significant shift early in the work. For others – particularly those for whom trauma has been a lifelong companion, woven through early experiences and repeated wounds – the work is slower, more layered, and asks for more patience. Thats not a limitation. Thats the nature of healing something that runs this deep.

What I can tell you is that the capacity for change doesnt have an expiration date.

If youre wondering whether working with me is a good fit for you, the best next step is a complimentary Discovery Session . Youll complete a client intake form first, then well meet on Zoom to explore whats possible.

How is this different from talk therapy?2026-05-10T00:26:01+00:00

Emotional Liberation® works at a different level than traditional therapy – and for many people, it reaches places talk therapy never could. It works at the level where patterns actually shift. It engages the nervous system and the body’s learned emotional responses, helping unwind reactive cycles that often persist even when you understand them intellectually. The result is change you can feel and live, especially under stress and in relationships.

I’m a credentialed Emotional Liberation practitioner, plant medicine facilitator, and Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist – not a licensed psychotherapist. What I offer sits at the frontier of emotional healing – and for many people, it reaches places other modalities never could.

What is Emotional Liberation?2026-04-09T21:27:12+00:00

Emotional Liberation® is a structured, experiential method for working with the emotions that keep running your life. Not by managing them, but by understanding what they’re for and releasing what they’ve been carrying.

It begins with the thinking brain. Most of us were handed rules about our emotions, not an understanding of them. We learned to manage, suppress, perform. Nobody showed us what they actually are.

From there, we go into the body, through psycho-spiritual inquiry, expressive movement, and breath and body-based kriyas, reaching the level where the patterns actually live. In the nervous system. In the energetic architecture that yogic science and esoteric teachings have understood for thousands of years. Plant medicine, when chosen, deepens that access further.

The premise is simple, and radical: your difficult emotions are not the problem. They are the medicine.

What does a personal session look like?2026-04-09T21:26:07+00:00

Sessions take place over Zoom and are tailored to your needs. They typically weave together emotional processing, somatic awareness practices, and active breathwork. The first session is an intake conversation focused on understanding your history, what you’re navigating, and what you want to move toward.

Is plant medicine legal?2026-04-09T21:13:04+00:00

Legality depends on your location and the specific substance. Cannabis is legal for medical and/or recreational use (referred to as adult use) in an increasing number of places. Psilocybin remains a Schedule I substance in the U.S. and is controlled in most countries, though decriminalization and therapeutic pathways are expanding. Becca’s facilitation work always operates within applicable legal frameworks.

Is plant medicine the same as psychedelics?2026-04-09T21:11:10+00:00

Not exactly. Plant medicine is a broader category. It includes cannabis, which is not a classic psychedelic but which, used with clear intention in a supported setting, can access profound emotional and spiritual territory. It includes psilocybin, ayahuasca, peyote, and other entheogenic plants that have been used in ceremonial contexts for centuries.

My work centers primarily on cannabis and psilocybin – not because the others lack value, but because these are the medicines I have direct training with, deep facilitation experience in, and an evidence base I can stand behind. And my focus is always on emotional healing and integration, not the pursuit of peak experiences for their own sake.

Can plant medicine be combined with psychiatric medication?2026-04-09T21:09:23+00:00

This is something we evaluate together, carefully, before anything else. Some combinations require caution or are best avoided entirely – particularly with SSRIs, mood stabilisers, and other psychiatric medications. Cannabis interactions tend to be less acute but still warrant attention. I always recommend consulting your prescribing clinician, and I won’t move forward with any facilitated experience until we’ve reviewed your full medication picture together.

Do I need prior experience to work with you?2026-04-09T21:06:54+00:00

No. I support people across the full spectrum – from complete beginners to those with extensive experience who want structured integration. The starting point for everyone is a complimentary  discovery call.

What if I have a difficult experience?2026-04-09T21:04:26+00:00

Challenging moments are a natural part of plant‑medicine work. They don’t mean anything has gone wrong. My facilitation is intentionally designed to hold emotional intensity and create a safe container for difficult material to surface and be processed. And what happens after is as much a part of my facilitation as what happens during.

Do I need experience with meditation to benefit?2026-04-09T21:48:29+00:00

No. Becca’s meditation and inner‑exploration practices are accessible to both beginners and experienced practitioners. The focus is on active inner engagement rather than passive sitting, a style many people find more approachable and more effective than traditional “silent sitting” mindfulness.

How is ceremonial cannabis different from recreational use?2026-04-09T21:47:37+00:00

The difference lies entirely in the approach… intention, set, setting, dose, and integration. The same substance used casually for relaxation becomes a therapeutic tool when held in a structured ceremonial container with clear emotional intention and support. Becca’s cannabis work is grounded in this distinction.

How often should I practice?2026-04-09T21:51:35+00:00

It all depends on your desire fro change. In the Emotional Liberation method, the practices are tailored to the seven difficult emotions we study. Each one is designed to stir a specific emotional layer so it can be processed and released. Knowing which emotion you’re working with is part of the practice as it gives you the language to understand what’s moving and why.

The daily kriyas and inner awareness practices are designed to be done daily. About eleven minutes. That consistency is what conditions the nervous system over time to meet what arises rather than defend against it.

The Elevation Ceremonies are different. A single session is an invitation to put your toe in the water, to feel what it’s like to access the emotional body with intention, to soften the defenses, to sense what’s been waiting underneath. It’s a glimpse, not a commitment. But for many people, that glimpse is enough to know they want to go further.

Can I access these practices without working 1:1 with Becca?2026-04-09T21:46:05+00:00

Yes. The complimentary monthly Elevation Ceremony (where cannabis is always optional) is open to everyone and is the most accessible entry point. The Emotional Expansion Master Series offers the full framework in a self‑paced course format with regular live group interaction. One‑on‑one sessions are available for deeper, personalized support.

Is this religious or tied to a particular spiritual tradition?2026-04-10T14:57:41+00:00

No. And that distinction is important.

My work draws from yogic science, esoteric teachings and practices, not as doctrine, but as maps. Maps drawn by those who explored the inner landscape long before modern psychology had language for it, and who found, through direct experience, the same truths the research is now beginning to confirm.

There is no belief system required here. No dogma to adopt. No authority to defer to, except your own. What I teach and guide is a form of self-therapy that makes you the highest authority on your own inner life. The destination is always a deeper, more honest relationship with yourself, transcending the emotional pain that has, all.

I’ve had a powerful experience I don’t understand. Can Becca help?2026-04-10T15:08:54+00:00

Yes, you do not have to be alone in this. You’re sensing something opened, whether through a spontaneous awakening, a moment of inexplicable stillness, a loss that cracked you apart, or a plant medicine experience. And now you’re trying to find your footing in what it left behind.

This is some of the most meaningful work I do. Integration support is available, and we begin where you are. The best first step is a complimentary Discovery Session, a chance to share what happened and explore together what kind of support would serve you most.

What is psychedelic integration?2026-04-10T14:59:43+00:00

Psychedelic integration is the process of making meaning from a psychedelic or plant medicine experience, translating what surfaced into conscious understanding, and then into how you actually live.

Most integration support stops there. It helps you understand what happened. It gives you a framework for the insights. And for many people, that’s where the work ends… and where the experience quietly begins to fade.

My Emotional Liberation method goes further. We work with what the experience stirred up – the emotions that surfaced, the old material it disturbed, the new possibilities it glimpsed. And most important, I help you build the capacity to navigate your existing life, the relationships, the roles, the dynamics that were built around the old version of you – while something new is taking shape inside. That gap between who you’re becoming and the life that hasn’t caught up yet needs informed, experienced support.

How does spirituality relate to emotional healing?2026-04-10T15:06:41+00:00

In my Emotional Liberation framework, they’re deeply interconnected. Emotional healing at its deepest level involves loosening the stories and identities that emotional patterns are built around, which is also the territory of spiritual inquiry. Many people find that as their emotional work deepens, it naturally opens into questions of meaning, consciousness, and self.

What is spiritual awakening?2026-04-10T15:02:46+00:00

In my experience, spiritual awakening begins closer than most people expect – in the difficult emotions they’ve been trying to outrun.

The Anxiety, the Grief, the Shame, the Anger, the Depression and others. These are not obstacles to awakening. They are the map. Each one is pointing somewhere. And when you learn to follow where they lead, rather than manage, suppress, or medicate them into silence, they become the path toward the deep inner knowing. That quiet, steady intelligence that has always been there, waiting to be heard.

That is where the Soul lives. And when you learn to commune with it, to sharpen your intuition, to trust what arises from within rather than searching for answers outside yourself, that is spiritual awakening. Not a moment. Not a destination. A way of moving through your own life.

Where do I fly into? What’s the best way to get to the retreat villa?2026-03-22T20:36:37+00:00

You have several options:

• The main airport in Southern Portugal is the Faro airport (airport abbreviation is FAO), which is about 50 minutes away from Lagos.

• Fly into Lisbon and connect to a flight to Faro and then train to Lagos (1 hr train ride).

• Fly directly into (FAO) Faro (with the Algarve’s popularity, more airlines are offering this). Then take a train or bus from Faro to Lagos.

• Personally, my favorite is to fly into Lisbon and then take the train or bus (a leisurely scenic 3 to 4-ish hours) to Lagos.

Are there any medical staff on site?2026-03-22T20:36:39+00:00

This environment is essentially a leisure retreat. Please be aware we are not a medical facility and have no medical staff on site. Our retreats are an immersive well-being experience and not equipped to care for guests in need of medical attention. Our retreat is designed to help cleanse the body, mind and soul and give you the opportunity to leave feeling unburdened, lighter, refreshed and alive.

We ask that our guests with medical conditions consult with their doctor prior to booking with us. Guests are also required to agree to our full terms and conditions prior to their stay, which states that they accept full responsibility for their own health.

We want to optimize your experience. The items below can negatively affect your experience with psilocybin.2026-03-22T20:36:40+00:00
  • Drugs that should not be combined with psilocybin before (at least one week): amphetamines (like crystal meth), MDMA (ecstasy), cocaine or any psychedelic such as ayahuasca or LSD
  •  Alcohol should be avoided for at least a week before the ceremony
  • Other medications that should be discontinued: allergy medications like antihistamines, cough syrup with codeine, sedatives, tranquilizers (Benzos), amphetamines (Adderall), some hypertensive medications, sympathomimetic amines (including pseudoephedrine and ephedrine), carbamazipine, methylphemidate (Ritalin), macromerine, phenelanine, tyrosine, tryptophan and asarone.
Are there potential adverse effects of psilocybin?2026-03-22T20:36:41+00:00

Psilocybin is cautioned or strongly advised against under these special circumstances:

  • People with medically diagnosed psychoses, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorders and schizophrenia.
  • Chronic high blood pressure and unstable heart conditions
  • Pregnant or lactating women
  • Other medications that can be unsafe with most psychedelics: Depressants (and sleeping pills), Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), Anti-hypertensives (blood pressure medications), Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Is a psilocybin session safe?2026-03-22T20:36:43+00:00

Yes, but of course there can be critical circumstances that need to be checked first. We carefully screen the health condition and medications of our participants to ensure that we can safely provide psilocybin.

Additionally, rest assured that Becca is a highly trained and experienced facilitator and guide. She is experienced with the medicine and is able to create a safe space of support for all participants equally. Psilocybin is generally very safe when working with it responsibly.

How does the plant medicine mesh with the Emotional Liberation Work?2026-03-22T20:36:44+00:00

Incorporating the plant medicine with the Emotional Liberation techniques opens you more deeply to the introspection and resulting insights brought about by our work together. This experience is designed to connect you with your intuition through sacred ceremony, reflection time and integration.

When we complete the retreat, you’ll have insights and tools to take with you to continue your healing journey. I also offer a 1:1 post-retreat integration session (included) so that you and I are able to touch base in the weeks to come. You are not alone in this journey and my team and I are honored to support you in this transformative experience.

What can I expect for weather?2026-03-22T20:36:45+00:00

We typically host retreats during the spring and fall in Southern Portugal. These seasons are very mild – with both being sunny and warm. It’s balmy enough to relax poolside or on the beach during the day, with a light layer for evenings out.

What’s the location of the retreat?2026-03-22T20:36:45+00:00

Our accommodations are based in Lagos. Address will be provided upon registration.
