Frequently asked questions

What if difficult emotions arise when I microdose?
That is often exactly what the medicine is doing. Difficult emotions surface because they are ready to move. The Emotional Liberation framework provides the tools to meet and work with what arises rather than be overwhelmed by it. This is why microdosing is always embedded in a guided, structured process in my work, not offered as a standalone practice. You go in prepared, and you do not navigate what comes up alone.
Is psilocybin legal where you work?
I live and work primarily in Portugal, where the personal use of all substances, including psilocybin, was decriminalized in 2001. I also work online with clients in jurisdictions where it is legally accessible. It is always your responsibility to understand the laws in your own location.
How does microdosing fit into your Emotional Liberation work?
Microdosing is a tool within a larger method, not the method itself. Emotional Liberation® provides the framework: the cognitive education, the psycho-spiritual inquiry, the expressive movement, and practices that allow difficult emotions to be processed and released. The microdose, when included, amplifies access to that process. It can help people who are genuinely stuck in the thinking mind find a doorway through. If this resonates for you and you’re wondering whether working with me is a good fit, the best next step is a Discovery Session. You’ll complete a client intake form first, then we’ll meet on Zoom to explore what’s possible.
Is microdosing right for everyone?
No, and I say that as a clinician. Given the biochemical individuality of each person, some will find microdosing genuinely transformative. Others will find it neutral or unhelpful. A small number may experience heightened Anxiety. It is always optional in my work and never a requirement.
Is microdosing the same as a psychedelic trip?
A microdose is typically one-tenth to one-twentieth of a full therapeutic dose. Any shift in perception is subtle, not disorienting. The intention is to create a gentle opening in the thinking mind so that the emotional body becomes more accessible. You should be able to go about your day normally. If you feel impaired, spacey, or unable to concentrate, the dose is too high.

Ready to explore microdosing with guidance?

Microdosing is always optional in my work. But for those ready to go deeper, it can be a remarkable ally. Start with a complimentary Discovery Session to explore whether this is the right fit.

Psychedelics Are Growing Up. Are We Ready?

By Becca Williams  |  June 17, 2026  |  Updated June 19, 2026

I attend at least one psychedelic science conference a year to stay current - and this year that meant ICPR in Haarlem. About a thousand attendees, a lot of myth-busting on stage, certificate programs and shamanic goods in the hallway, and one question from an Indigenous physician that I haven't been able to shake.

Microdosing with psilocybin is not the ultimate be all, end all!

By Becca Williams  |  April 22, 2026  |  Updated May 5, 2026

Microdosing psilocybin or LSD might feel good on the days you take it. But that’s where it ends, according to the largest microdosing study yet. No breakthrough. No lasting shift. Just a temporary lift that fades as quickly as it comes. The same pattern shows up with full psychedelic journeys too. So if the change doesn’t stick… what are alternatives?

Emotional Liberation

Keep the pain, lose the suffering

By Becca Williams  |  December 19, 2025  |  Updated May 29, 2026

“Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” This is a phrase that gets tossed around spiritual circles like it’s self-explanatory. Spoiler: it’s not. Most people nod wisely and then immediately go back to suffering because nobody breaks it down. But I believe it’s vitally important for all of us to know that there is an alternative to suffering. Because if we actually understand what this phrase means it can completely change the way we move through emotional pain. “Pain is inevitable” means that emotional pain will happen, no matter what you do.

A little woo-woo… a lot of planetary realignment.

By Becca Williams  |  December 11, 2025  |  Updated May 29, 2026

We talk a lot about saving the Earth … but let’s be honest: the Earth has been through worse. Humanity isn't going to "destroy" the planet. If we continue to push the ecosystem beyond its tolerance, Earth won't blink. It will simply buck us off, along with every other species that can't adapt.

Pass the Gravy – Hold the Cannabis

By Becca Williams  |  November 26, 2025  |  Updated May 29, 2026

About a decade ago, living in the cannabis wonderland of Denver – back when legalization there was still new and exciting (and yes, it’s still exciting), I saw a wave of “cannabis catering” take off. Full-course infused dinners. Creative, thoughtful chefs pushing the boundaries of what cannabis and cuisine could do together. These days, it appears the concept has caught on. According to Bloomberg news cannabis is not only showing up at holiday gatherings, it's replacing alcohol in some households.

Psychedelics Open the Door – What Comes Through Is Up to You

By Becca Williams  |  November 20, 2025  |  Updated May 29, 2026

Psychedelics can open remarkable doors, but the nervous system decides what happens next. Insight alone can’t unwind patterned survival responses; only practice can. When the body learns steadiness, emotional waves land differently, and clarity takes root. It's the quiet work that makes transformation real – long after the medicine fades.

The Beatles’ psychedelic years revealed how quickly insights can fade without grounding. Today, the lesson is clearer: psychedelics paired with integration create lasting transformation.
