But nothing did the trick until, at 5am I finally nodded off (makes sense as it was 11pm my time in Portugal). Obviously, I’ll need to rearrange myself; four hours doesn’t cut it. our body really feels those massive time zone shifts, and it gets even worse when your mind won’t shut off. It’s incredibly exhausting when you find yourself struggling with overwhelming late-night anxiety while the rest of the world is fast asleep.

Resting Through the Burnout

Anyway, I’ll be on retreat for a week and then a week of, well, whatever I feel like doing – sightseeing (maybe an elephant sanctuary, temple visiting (Wat Doi Suthep sounds like a good bet), or maybe just gazing at my naval.

Psilocybin Integration Practices after the Journeys

The retreat is with a trusted colleague who’s conducting two psilocybin journeys with our small group of six. It’ll be interesting to see what I’m up for after that. These psilocybin integration practices are going to be a gentle anchor for our small group. It’ll be interesting to see what I’m up for after that. Maybe just the naval gazing. I’ll let you know.

So I’m taking a little time off. It’s summer, I hope you’re finding ways to let down and go inward as well? Sometimes the most helpful thing is simply small practices that restore you when you’re running on fumes.

With Love,

Becca

P.S. I know that some of you have an interest in my life in Portugal. As a hobby, I do some writing for a couple of English-speaking publications. Here’s a piece I did before I left about July 4th over here… in the end, we all try to find our “community” wherever we are.

Just a quick note as I’m writing from Thailand (Chiang Mai specifically, in the north of the country). I’m up here getting ready for a quiet week of psilocybin integration practices with a small group

It was a long trip – between 4 flights and hefty layovers – 27 hours worth. I’m here physically but tired and discombobulated having landed late yesterday and flopping at a simple and clean little hotel near the airport. I tried everything to sleep (including breathing, counting backwards from 100 and even the podcast “Sleep with me.”The truth is, my body was just suffering from severe burnout exhaustion after months of nonstop work back home.
