Taking care of yourself. Naval gazing works.

Just a quick note as I’m writing from Thailand (Chiang Mai specifically, in the north of the country). It was a long trip – between 4 flights and hefty layovers – 27 hours worth. I’m here physically but tired and discombobulated having landed late yesterday and flopping at a simple and clean little hotel near the airport. I tried everything to sleep (including breathing, counting backwards from 100 and even the podcast “Sleep with me.”

But nothing did the trick until, at 5am I finally nodded off (makes sense as it was 11pm my time in Portugal). Obviously, I’ll need to rearrange myself; four hours doesn’t cut it.

Anyway, I’ll be on retreat for a week and then a week of, well, whatever I feel like doing – sightseeing (maybe an elephant sanctuary, temple visiting (Wat Doi Suthep sounds like a good bet), or maybe just gazing at my naval.

Wat Doi Suthep is the most visited, renowned, and highly revered temple in Chiang Mai

The retreat is with a trusted colleague who’s conducting two psilocybin journeys with our small group of six. It’ll be interesting to see what I’m up for after that. Maybe just the naval gazing. I’ll let you know.

So I’m taking a little time off. It’s summer, I hope you’re finding ways to let down and go inward as well?

With Love,

Becca

P.S. I know that some of you have an interest in my life in Portugal. As a hobby, I do some writing for a couple of English-speaking publications. Here’s a piece I did before I left about July 4th over here… in the end, we all try to find our “community” wherever we are.
