Silence of the Spiritual Stars

The Big Stars of Spirituality are getting dragged into the court of public judgment, and the polished image of “higher consciousness” is crumbling. It is a jarring process to witness, but it highlights the uncomfortable gap that can exist between the performance of spiritual awakening and truth and the actual reality of human behavior.

We’re seeing an avalanche of criticism gaining force amid reports that Deepak Chopra’s name appears thousands of times in the Epstein files, an extensive pattern of references that has raised serious concern.

But now, aside from the marquee name of Deepak Chopra, the spotlight has shifted to encompass the upper tier of spiritual teachers who have stayed silent in the face of this revelation.

A recent report from a Substack author is exposing a string of troubling encounters with industry leaders who are part of a billion-dollar empire of Personal Growth and Development.

Lissa Rankin, an insider in the wellness and spirituality circuit, wrote a post that describes years of watching the backstage reality of influencer spirituality: power games, intimidation, boundary violations, and moral flexibility.

She also calls out the deafening silence from the biggest names in the self-help and spiritual-industrial complex – people with enormous platforms and enormous influence, who, according to the critique she cites, hadn’t publicly addressed the revelations even days after the release. You simply can’t claim to lead people toward spiritual awakening and truth while hiding from basic accountability.

She asks why so many high-profile voices stay quiet when harm is alleged or exposed inside their own ecosystem. She names reasons that are painfully believable: fear of lawsuits, fear of backlash, fear of losing alliances, fear of losing income, fear of being the one who ruins the illusion for people who genuinely got comfort from the teachings. 

But there’s another reason that may transcend all others: that silence protects the business model. Because if the public starts applying normal standards… conflict-of-interest, duty of care, professional boundaries, transparency, then “spiritual celebrity” stops being a magic cloak. And without the cloak, a lot of revered people look very ordinary. 

Her post doesn’t just point at one man. It points toward a whole culture that confuses charisma with integrity, and influence with wisdom. 

And why, as a psycho-spiritual teacher myself, am I paying such close attention? 

Let me be clear: I am not a household name. I’m not filling arenas. In the broader landscape of modern spirituality, I’m small potatoes.

Which is precisely why I care.

Because the culture at the top shapes the culture everywhere else. And integrity doesn’t scale up or down; it either exists or it doesn’t. 

I work at the intersection of psyche and spirit, teaching emotional release inspired by ancient Kundalini principles. 

At the heart of this work is the mantra Sat Nam.

Sat means Truth.
Nam means identity.

Together: Truth is my identity.

Not image.
Not persona.
Not platform.

Truth.

And that applies to consciousness teachers, too. Especially. 

If Truth is my identity, then truth must matter more than reputation.
More than alliances. More than influence.

It means I don’t put teachers on pedestals. And they don’t put themselves on pedestals. I don’t confuse charisma with integrity. Teachers don’t either.

Truth is my identity. Even when it’s uncomfortable.
