So I wouldn’t propose anything where I hadn’t experienced it for myself and wasn’t thoroughly convinced of the benefits. It makes sense then that I’ve been microdosing for a few months now to report back to my students and clients as to what to expect.
As a clinician, I’m aware that the research at this point on microdosing psilocybin is early and inconclusive – although there is compelling anecdotal evidence of micro-dosing’s healing effects. And remember that anecdotal evidence is in the form of people’s stories about what has happened to them – yet conclusions aren’t supported by scientific data.
However, I want to share my experience with you – knowing that what I say is considered anecdotal. But you know me… or a little bit about me and my work. As a former reporter and health editor, I am detailed about my observations. And I want to give you details of my microdosing experience so far.
Now, to be clear, the reason I’m including the microdosing option, in addition to cannabis in my master courses, is because of the way these plant medicines amplify our work with emotions. The unique framework and skills I teach to release difficult emotions is very effective in and of itself but when we add the plant medicine… it’s like super-charged. I work with people all the time who are really having a challenge breaking out of their incessant thoughts because of on-going anxiety, depression, anger, sadness, whatever emotions you might be wrestling with.
And as part of my program, it’s vital to be able to ground and clear ourselves so that we can, among other things, enter a meditative state to meet the emotions that are coming up. And both cannabis and microdosing psilocybin support this process.
And I see that in my own experience, employing this deep emotional release work. And I have to get personal here to explain to you. So with this Emotional Liberation method, I’ve been able to clear myself of the trauma that I carried and the anxiety, the depression, the anger, the sadness that were all tethered to my trauma. So I’ve released A LOT… and I mostly navigate in calm, centered clarity… something I couldn’t have dreamed of – until this work found me back in 2015. And the healing was so mind-blowing for me that I studied this process and now I teach it. And I just added the microdosing as an optional part of the protocol.
And honestly, I wondered because I’m so clear, what difference the microdosing would make for me. And here’s what’s been happening for me. You know, in my work, I mesh Eastern Wisdom teachings and spirituality with Western Science. So I’m very much about the intersection of what I call: soul and science. So there is our physical body and in yogic science there is the invisible energetic body. And I believe that energetic body holds onto trauma as well. So as I’ve been microdosing, I’ve been experiencing only what I can describe as the release of some deeply embedded lingering trauma. And it’s a layer that I know has been there and it felt deeply rooted and waiting to be freed, if you will. And this is what I believe the microdosing psilocybin has facilitated for me by helping me drop deeper into that invisible inner world and percolate up what’s left.
We could talk neuroscience here and speculate that it’s re-wiring neural connections… science is coming along but it’s way behind on connecting the dots. And really, in the end, it’s about how you feel… what’s happening to you? Right? So this is what’s happening to me.
I could talk to you about the other benefits… I’m observing a boost in my energy, I’m feeling more creative and I’m in profound gratitude, more so than usual. And those are all significant, but the release of the emotions is the piece that’s central to my work because that’s permanent. Once those emotions have been released, you don’t have to deal with that layer anymore.
