If you have a dog, you have to do it anyway. So why not turn your dog walk into an extraordinary opportunity to do something special for yourself? Here’s what I’m talking about:

Hi, it’s Becca and as you know I am very much about cultivating presence and awareness. And I have you on my dog walk for this very reason. I’m here with my little Sawyer. Sawyer say “Hi”.

And so just a little hit of cannabis often helps too to lift your awareness – so you’re very present with what’s going on.

So, for instance, watch me …I’m breathing in and breathing out for a count of 5. (demonstration here)

And if you can’t do a count of 5, do a count of 3. It’s just circular. Try it the entire dog walk. So if this sounds like something that might resonant for you or absolutely not or maybe you’re already doing it, I invite you to drop down into the comments section and let me know your thoughts on that.
I’m Becca Williams and I want you to have a magnificent life and I want to help you do that.

And, you know, for those of us who have dogs, we have to walk them 3 or 4 times a day. And so often it’ll be “Oh man, I have to walk the dog.” But turn it into a real pleasure and that is to put away your technology – a radical notion – and not take it out with you.

So often we’re out walking and we see other people who are walking their dogs and they’re staring into a screen on their mobile devices … not taking in the environment or importantly spending quality time with their best bud. And this is one way to do that, put down your technology and watch as your little guy or your big guy pokes around and sniffs and looks. It’s very much a delight for them. You know you see a dog sniffing and, it’s the nutritionist in me that knows that urine for dogs is like an ambrosia. They get such pleasure from it. They get such pleasure from the entire walk. And why not make it an assignment for you to get pleasure from that walk?

And also, there’s a 5-count breath that’s a very nice addition to making your dog walk meditative. And that is where you’re breathing in for 5 counts and breathing out for 5 counts. And you can do this in front of a lot of people or in a park or wherever you’re walking your dog. And nobody knows the difference. It’s very subtle.

  1. Oh! And this is just as applicable if you go for a stroll by yourself – or you have one of those extraordinary cats who go with you.
